Thank you!

Our school not only met, but EXCEEDED our 1,000 book goal for Tobane Primary School in Botswana! Thank you to all who donated gently used books for us to send to Africa for this school to start a school library. We are very excited that we were able to exceed our goal. Thanks to the Winston-Salem Symphony for organizing the shipments of the books.

North Carolina Children's Book Award

The North Carolina Children's Book Award (NCCBA) is awarded annually to the book that receives the most votes from elementary school children across North Carolina from the list of nominations. There is an award for the favorite picture book and the favorite junior book. To see previous winners and current nominees, visit http://www.plcmc.org/bookhive/books/category.asp?category=nccba or see the NCCBA link on the Caleb's Creek media center website.

Caleb's Creek K-2 students are reading the picture book nominees in the media center with Mrs. DuBois and voting for their favorites.

3-6 students may read the junior book nominees on their own and vote for their favorite as long as they have read at least 5 nominees. Just let Mrs. DuBois know if which books you read and which you would like to vote for!

All votes will be submitted to the state in mid-March and the winner will be announced near the end of the school year.

African Library Project Update

Thank you to all who have donated books! We are halfway to our goal but still need to collect almost 500 more books before we meet the 1,000 book goal for our sister school in Botswana. These are the only books this school will have for their school library and the teachers do not even have books to teach from.

Please look on your shelves at home for gently used books children's books you would like to donate and put them in the purple box outside the media center.

Thank you all!!
